Here are some tips to help minimise the signs:
1. USE MILD FACIAL PRODUCTS
Some products contain harsh ingredients that can deprive skin of its natural oils and cause it to become red and reactive. Opt for mild, fragrance-free products instead.
2. PROTECT AGAINST SUDDEN TEMPERATURE
These can cause the blood vessels in your skin to expand and flush with blood, leading to redness. Protect your skin by using a broad spectrum sunscreen every day and wear a scarf around the lower part of your face to protect it in cold weather.
3. AVOID SPICY FOOD AND ALCOHOL
‘Hot’ spices can trigger irritation, as can too much alcohol. Try to limit your alcohol intake and avoid spices when cooking or eating out.
Now you know how to minimise the signs of facial redness, you can take steps to protect your skin and prevent it occurring. However, if you are worried about your skin, we would recommend that you speak to your dermatologist or pharmacist.
